Big Festival 2009 – Folks, I went to Siam Paragon (พารากอน) to photograph an event call “Big Festival 2009” It’s all about game road show. There are some models or booth girls which are one of my primary subjects to take a shot over there. I got my 5D mark II and 70-200 4L with me today. Well actually I brought some wide angle lens but pretty much use tele for almost all the shots I took.

It was considered as very dark inside the grand Paragon hall, where “Big Festival 2009” is held. Typically, you can’t get a nice shot under this kind of circumstance easily. It is very important to get help from your flash.
Yes, no wonder why the first thing I did is to attach my Canon 550ex II to my camera. Actually I think it’s even too dark and sometimes I saw some people having a hard time detecting the focus point. For me, it’s OK. I just have my flash do the light metering instead. It’s pretty more powerful than using the metering system from the camera especially under dark light environment.
TO GET THE BEST SHOT : Always Carry both wide and tele Lens
Within my camera bags we carry various lenses for diff erent looks and eff ects. Wide (short) lenses and telephoto (long) have their own look, wide lenses exaggerating perspectives and telephoto lenses compressing the field of view. Photographing people can call on all the tools in your bag. Head-and-shoulder portraits are extremely direct and force the viewer to look directly at the subject. EF 70-200 4L IS is always my best lens of choice, ranging from 70mm to 200mm. You can take a shot with the minimum distance around 1.2 Metre, pretty cool, isn’t it. However, you may need to be ready to switch your tele to a wide one. Sometimes, you need more details in your photo and wide angle lens can full fill your needs though.
